PokerStars Speaks Out on Controversial T-Shirts Worn During EPT Super High Roller
Tournament winner Olivier Busquet and runner-up Daniel Colman promoted their political views on the war in Israel.
- Busquet wore a white T-shirt with the messages across the front stating “Save Gaza” on the front while Coleman sported a T-shirt stating “Free Palestine.”
- Eric Hollreiser, head of corporate communications at Rational Group, parent company of PokerStars and the EPT, issued a statement to pokerfuse on the topic. “In retrospect it was a mistake to allow them entry,” Hollreiser stated.
- “We will refuse entry to any player displaying political statements of any kind.”
Olivier Busquet wins European Poker Tour Super High-Roller
Heads-up online poker specialists square off for the EPT title.
- Heads up specialist and Alpha8 commentator Olivier Busquet captured his first European Poker Tour (EPT) title Wednesday.
- The win marks Busquet’s first seven-figure payday and only his second major tournament victory.
- Busquet defeated protégé and good friend Dan Coleman heads up for the title.
PokerTracker and Hold’em Manager Merge
The two market leaders in database and HUD poker software tools have joined forces—both products will continue.
- Poker Tracker (PT) and Hold’em Manager (HEM) have agreed to merge into one business.
- Both companies produce software driven by a database of the poker hands recorded by the user.
- The two products will continue to be offered in parallel. The companies state that they are “committed to maintaining and supporting both product lines going forward.”
PokerStars TV Returns to the US: Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open to be Live Streamed
The first time since 2010 that PokerStars has streamed coverage of a US tournament.
- The final tables of the $10 million guaranteed Main Event and the $100k buy in High Roller will be live streamed on PokerStars.tv.
- A broadcast delay—probably 45 minutes—will allow hole cards to be shown. The commentators will be working with the same delay—seeing exactly what the live stream audience sees.
- The last time PokerStars live streamed a US tournament was in 2010.
