New Jersey Releases Draft Internet Wagering Regulations

Law and Regulation:

The state of New Jersey released a draft proposal of internet wagering regulations on Friday. The official proposed regulations will be made public on June 3, 2013, at which point a 60-day public comment period will ensue.

The draft was released to allow interested parties additional time to familiarize themselves with the regulations before the comment period begins, according to a letter distributed to stakeholders and obtained by pokerfuse. However, the Division of Gaming Enforcement emphasizes that “[t]he text of the proposal is unofficial until published in the NJ Register.”

It’s almost here. The Millionaire Maker, the bracelet chases, 24/7 cash games…it’s the World Series Of Poker where tens of dreams are made and thousands dashed. The WSOP Media Conference call took place this week to get the hype machine moving in full force and the powers that be did a great job in getting the media pumped up about the 2013 WSOP.

The WSOP staff also opted to take a few moments to test out some of their new comedy material on the members of the media with zingers. Insisting that while the call was being recorded, WSOP Director of Communications Seth Palansky didn’t “believe that Russ Hamilton is behind the recording” and WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart confirmed that while food guru All-American Dave obtained his permits to deliver healthy food table side there’s “no truth to the rumor” that Sam Chauhan will be working the grill. Points for effort guys and for keeping it light. It’s safe to assume that no one saw a Sam Chauhan reference coming.

iPoker Policy Crackdown: Immediate Checks on All PokerVIP Accounts Required

Poker Room News: Poker rooms have until Monday, May 20 to perform KYC procedures on all accounts linked to the power affiliate.

iPokerVIP, a prominent online poker affiliate, was officially tied to the ongoing investigation on the iPoker network Wednesday.

In an email sent to all iPoker licensees and card room managers, seen by pokerfuse, all players referred by iPokerVIP must complete KYC (“know your customer”) verification by the beginning of next week.

Preliminary Text of New Illinois Internet Gambling Measure Released

The language of an Illinois internet gambling bill has emerged in the form of a preliminary 67-page draft proposal, which would create a new Division of Internet Gaming within the Illinois Lottery, and grant licensees the right to offer a broad range of internet-based gambling to the state’s residents.

According to published reports, the working draft was distributed by aides to State Senate President John Cullerton, a long-time supporter of gambling interests in the state.

Draft of New California Online Poker Bill Released

Law and Regulation: New collaborative effort among tribes results in a protectionist poker-only bill.

A new draft bill that seeks to regulate online poker in California was revealed Wednesday. This latest attempt to progress internet poker in The Golden State is a collaborative effort by eight of the state’s Indian tribes.

The Internet Poker Consumer Protection Act of 2013 limits online gaming to only poker, and requires California to abstain from any federal legislation that would be enacted. It also excludes the possibility of interstate and international player pools.

Caesars to launch Nevada Real Money Poker by Summer

Live and Online: Team “hard at work” completing the steps necessary to launch Nevada-licensed WSOP.com.

The launch of real money online poker under its Nevada license on WSOP.com is expected by summer, Caesars stated on a media conference call hosted Wednesday.

“We’re hard at work completing the necessary steps as required to bring it to market. We can’t confirm an exact launch date, but we know it will be this summer,” stated Seth Palansky, Caesars’ Vice President of Corporate Communications.

Pokerfuse PRO: Another Departure in France: Partouche Announces Closure

Poker Room News: Despite claims of being the “first to close,” just one in a string of rooms to exit the high-tax French market.

French online poker site Partouche.FR will close its doors in June, the site announced this week.

Players will be moved to partner MyPok, on the same network. The loyalty program ends on June 1. All points need to be used by June 17, after which they will expire.
